Flavor Flav claimed that NBC security kicked him out of the Backstreet Boys’ dressing room at the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting.
In an X post that has since been deleted, the hip-hop icon, 65, wrote on Wednesday, December 4, “I feel weird … I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and I was escorted to see my boys … THE BACKSTREET BOYS … and we were backstage in their dressing room … security came up tp me and says @nbc does not want me in this area and I need to leave.”
“At the same time … their social media woman came up and asked me to capture social content. What did I ever do to NBC or anyone??” he continued. “All I ever do is try to spread joy and love … and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.”
After deleting the post, Flav later shared via X, “I deleted the tweet … but my spirit is broken.”
In a subsequent tweet, the Flavor of Love star shared a short video of him enjoying Wednesday’s tree lighting and wrote, “Christmas in the city … ain’t nothing like the Rockefeller tree lighting . 🫶🏾”
Us Weekly has contacted NBC for comment.
The Backstreet Boys joined host Kelly Clarkson for Wednesday’s tree lighting, which was broadcast live on NBC. They performed Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You).” Other musical guests included Raye, Jennifer Hudson and Little Big Town.
Flav, meanwhile, recently revealed that he wasn’t aware that actress and singer Selena Gomez is best friends with his favorite pop star, Taylor Swift.
In November, Flav uploaded a GIF of Gomez talking with Swift via X. In the video, Swift appears shocked by what Gomez is saying. “Me finding out Taylor and Selena are best friends,” he captioned the clip.
The self-proclaimed “King Swiftie” told Us in September that he hopes Swift marries boyfriend Travis Kelce and even wants to officiate their wedding.
“I think they’re going to be together for a while. I hope they [are], and if they get married, I want to be the preacher,” Flav said. “I want to be the one that marries them.”
Flav has been vocal about his support of Swift, 34, for years, telling Us that it seems like the singer is at “a really good place in her life” right now — especially with Kelce by her side.
