Corrections

We want to get things right. When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and we say so.

How to report an error

Email [email protected] or use our contact page. Please include:

  • the link to the article;
  • what you believe is wrong;
  • the correct information and, if you have one, a source for it.

You do not need to be the subject of an article to report a mistake. We read every message and aim to reply within five working days.

How corrections are marked

  • We check the report against our sources. If we were wrong, we correct the article straight away.
  • Significant errors (a wrong name, figure, price, date or quotation, or anything that changes the meaning of the story) get a dated note at the foot of the article, for example: “Correction, 12 March 2026: An earlier version of this article gave the price as $1.2 million. It is $2.1 million.
  • Updates: when new information is added to an article after publication, the article is marked “Updated” with the date.
  • Minor fixes such as typos, formatting and broken links are made without a note.
  • We do not quietly delete articles. If an article has to be withdrawn, a short note at its address explains that it has been withdrawn.
