Editorial Policy

This page explains how CityLifeBytes chooses, produces and corrects what it publishes. We would rather tell you exactly how we work than ask you to take it on trust.

Our standards in short

  • We publish only what we can trace to a named source.
  • Every article lists its sources.
  • We say plainly how our articles are produced.
  • We correct mistakes quickly and visibly.
  • Advertisers and brands have no say in what we publish.

How we select stories

We cover luxury: watches and jewellery, yachts, cars and private aviation, fashion, property, art and culture, and the business and people behind them.

We choose stories for their news value to readers: a new product or collection, a sale or record price, an appointment, acquisition or set of results, a notable event. We do not publish rumours as fact. If something is unconfirmed, we either leave it out or say clearly that it is unconfirmed and who is reporting it.

Sourcing

A story must rest on one of the following:

  • an official announcement: a press release, company statement, regulatory filing, auction result, court record, or a public statement by the person concerned; or
  • at least two independent reports from established news organisations. One outlet repeating another outlet’s report does not count as independent.

Every article lists its sources, with links, at the end of the article. Prices, dates, specifications and quotations are taken from those sources. Quotations are reproduced as the source published them and are attributed. We do not invent quotations and we do not use anonymous sources of our own.

When sources disagree on a detail, we say so or we leave the detail out.

How articles are produced

Every article on CityLifeBytes is compiled from the sources listed at the end of the article. Before publication, each draft is checked against those sources: names, figures, dates, prices and quotations must match the source material, and statements that cannot be traced to a source are removed, or the article is not published.

All articles are published under the editorial responsibility of the publisher, CityLifeBytes, who sets these rules, oversees the process and is accountable for everything on this site.

If a fact is not in the sources, it should not be in the article. If you find one that is, please tell us.

Articles produced by our editorial desk appear under the byline “CityLifeBytes Editorial”. Articles published before September 2026 keep the bylines under which they first appeared.

Images

We use images from three kinds of source:

  • press and media materials that brands, companies and auction houses provide for editorial use;
  • Wikimedia Commons and other openly licensed collections, used under the terms of their licence;
  • licensed stock photography.

Each image carries a credit that names its source and, where relevant, its licence. We do not use fabricated or digitally invented images to depict real products, people or events.

Corrections

We correct errors as soon as we have verified them. Significant corrections are noted at the foot of the article, with the date and a description of what changed. Our Corrections page explains the details.

To request a correction, email [email protected] with the link to the article, what is wrong, and, if you have it, a source for the correct information. We aim to reply within five working days.

Advertising, sponsored content and independence

CityLifeBytes is funded by advertising, served mainly through Google AdSense. Ads are selected automatically by Google and are visually separate from our articles. We do not choose individual ads, and advertisers have no influence on what we cover or how.

  • We do not publish sponsored content without labelling it. Anything paid for would carry a clear “Sponsored” label at the top.
  • We do not sell links or mentions.
  • If an article ever contains affiliate links, it will say so.
  • We do not accept payment, gifts or travel in return for coverage.

Copyright and takedown requests

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright or other rights, email [email protected] and include:

  • the link to the page and a description of the material concerned;
  • what your right in the material is (for example, that you are the photographer or the rights holder’s representative);
  • your name and contact details.

We review every request promptly, remove or correct the material where the complaint is justified, and let you know the outcome.
