Porsche updates PCCM Plus retrofit system for 2009-2016 911, Boxster and Cayman
The new generation of Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to older sports cars alongside over-the-air map updates.
Porsche has expanded its Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) retrofit infotainment system to cover more than 300,000 older sports cars from model years 2009 to 2016.
The system integrates directly into each car’s architecture, offering seamless connectivity alongside functions pulled from current production Porsche models.
Wireless smartphone and navigation features
The centrepiece is a seven-inch high-resolution touchscreen, though vehicles equipped with a multifunction steering wheel can operate the system through its controls instead. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrate via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, allowing drivers to access their phones’ apps and navigation without cable connections.
Map updates arrive over the air, and the system supports satellite-imagery navigation alongside a “Scenic Roads” function that directs drivers toward particularly winding routes. Speed limits appear on screen based on map data, while the instrument cluster can display navigation prompts and music information.
Vehicle-specific functions and comfort
The PCCM Plus adds practical information displays available in contemporary Porsche models. Drivers can monitor oil temperature and pressure from the trip screen. On Boxster and Cayman models, the system supplements the previously acoustic-only parking aid by adding a visual on-screen display showing the distance to obstacles.
A nano SIM card slot with 4G support enables connectivity features that require an active internet connection. The system also allows Porsche exterior colours to be selected for the virtual vehicle displayed on screen, matching the infotainment interface visually with the physical car.
Connectivity and media
Audio capabilities include DAB, HD, FM and AM dual tuners, Bluetooth streaming with metadata display, connections for existing sound systems, and an internal and external microphone. The system accepts interfaces for external media sources and plays YouTube videos when the car is stationary, depending on local legal requirements.
Personal vehicle settings are preserved through the retrofit, ensuring that existing driver preferences and display customizations remain functional. Installation at a Porsche Centre is recommended, and the availability of certain functions varies by vehicle model and specification.
