Broad Arrow brings 65 collector cars to Newport, led by rare 1914 Stutz and twin Mercedes 300 SLs

Broad Arrow Auctions, the sales platform of collector-car company Hagerty, will host its inaugural Northeast auction on October 2 in Newport, Rhode Island, at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, as the official auctioneer for the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week. The sale will offer 65 vehicles, with three-quarters listed without reserve.
The catalog draws from across automotive history. Leading the offerings is a 1914 Stutz 4E Bearcat, estimated at $1.75 million to $2 million. The source behind the car is the road version of the vehicle that competed in the 1911 Indianapolis 500. Chassis number 2250 carries documented ownership from manufacture through later keepers including Winthrop Rockefeller and William F. Harrah, and earned a National First Place award from the AACA.
Post-War Icons
Two Mercedes-Benz 300 SL models form the backbone of the sale’s post-war section. A 1956 Gullwing Coupe finished in black with blue plaid cloth seat inserts, estimated at $1.6 million to $1.8 million, received over $100,000 in mechanical work by Mercedes-Benz Classic Center USA in 2025. A 1957 Roadster, also black, carries an estimate of $1.15 million to $1.35 million and arrives with a silver hardtop and fitted luggage. Both are matching-numbers examples.
A 1967 Bizzarrini GT America 2+2, priced at $400,000 to $500,000, was shown at the 1968 Turin Motor Show.
