Gooding Christie’s debuts in Geneva with modern Ferraris and Schumacher watches

The auction house opens its Swiss operations in November with a single-owner collection of low-mileage Ferraris offered without reserve, alongside timepieces from Michael Schumacher's private collection.

Gooding Christie’s, the automotive division of Christie’s, will hold its first Swiss auction on 8 November at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva during Christie’s Luxury Week. The sale will centre on a single-owner collection of modern, exceptionally low-mileage Ferraris, all offered without reserve, alongside vehicles from other marques and a rare watch collection linked to Formula 1 racing history.

The automotive lineup includes several headline lots. A 2023 Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta carries an estimate of 1.7 to 1.9 million Swiss francs, while a 2025 Ferrari 812 Competizione Coupé is estimated at 1.4 to 1.6 million Swiss francs. A 2025 Ferrari SF90 XX Spider is valued at 1.5 to 1.7 million Swiss francs, and a 2016 Ferrari F12 TDF is estimated at 1.4 to 1.6 million Swiss francs. The sale also includes pairs of 488 Pista, 296 Speciale, and 12 Cilindri models. A small number of Mercedes-Benz, Citroën, and Puch vehicles complete the offering.

No-reserve strategy in Geneva

Oliver Camelin, managing director of Gooding Christie’s for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, framed Geneva as an emerging anchor point for the firm’s regional calendar. He said that “Geneva has been one of the world’s great meeting points for collectors for decades, and cars are a natural addition to Christie’s Luxury Week,” and that the house is “delighted to bring Gooding Christie’s to Geneva with an exceptional, single-owner collection of modern Ferraris, offered without reserve.” Camelin added that “our November auction marks the first step towards establishing Geneva as a recurring and important part of the Gooding Christie’s EMEA calendar.”

Schumacher’s F.P. Journe collection

Running parallel to the automotive sale, Christie’s Luxury Week will include a rare-watches auction on 9 November featuring five F.P. Journe timepieces from the private collection of Michael Schumacher. The five watches, each numbered 92/99, share matching serial numbers and represent epochal models from F.P. Journe’s catalogue.

The Octa Jour et Nuit is estimated at 300,000 to 600,000 Swiss francs (approximately $380,000 to $740,000 USD). The Tourbillon Souverain carries an estimate of 650,000 to 1.2 million Swiss francs ($800,000 to $1.5 million USD). The Octa Chronographe is valued at 300,000 to 600,000 Swiss francs ($380,000 to $740,000 USD), while the Octa Calendrier is also estimated at 300,000 to 600,000 Swiss francs ($380,000 to $740,000 USD). The Chronomètre à Résonance is estimated at 650,000 to 1.2 million Swiss francs ($800,000 to $1.5 million USD).

Timing and significance

The sale coincides with Michael Schumacher’s 30th anniversary of joining Ferrari, which was marked earlier this year at the Monza Formula 1 Grand Prix in early September, when Ferrari drivers wore specially designed racing suits and helmets in commemoration.
