Aston Martin launches Valhalla Spider as fastest open-cockpit car it has made
The mid-engined hybrid supercar reaches 217 mph with its roof off and arrives in Q3 2027.

Aston Martin has introduced the Valhalla Spider, a convertible version of its mid-engined hybrid supercar that claims the title of the fastest open-cockpit car the British manufacturer has produced. The Spider shares the powertrain and core engineering of the Valhalla Coupe launched earlier this year, but redesigns its roof system and aerodynamics to maintain performance with the top down.
The car is powered by a 1,079 PS plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 828 PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft and three electric motors contributing 251 PS. According to Aston Martin, the engine achieves 207 bhp-per-litre. The hybrid system produces 1,100 Nm of torque. Aston Martin says the Spider can reach its electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) with the roof removed, an achievement made possible by revised aerodynamic calibrations and Electronic Stability Programme settings tailored to open-air driving.
Roof and comfort systems
The Spider is fitted with a removable fabric roof as standard, designed to preserve the Valhalla Coupe’s clean lines while offering weather protection. With the roof in place, the car reaches 200 km/h (124 mph). An optional carbon fibre hard top removes this limitation and enables unrestricted access to the full top speed. A rain cover is provided for static use.
When the roof is removed, the Spider uses a wind deflector that clips into the cockpit opening. According to the company, this device directs cooling air toward the snorkel while lifting airflow over the occupants for improved comfort. The snorkel has been reprofiled and sits 35 mm higher than the Coupe’s version. With the roof on, the deflector folds into three sections and stores in 15-litre cavities built into the sills.
The car comes standard with a new carbon fibre Touring Seat intended to enhance driver and passenger experience during roof-on motoring. Owners can retain the original carbon fibre seat from the Coupe at no additional cost if they prefer a configuration with greater support.

Aerodynamics and structure
The Valhalla Spider shares the Coupe’s active aerodynamics, which continuously shifts front and rear downforce based on driving mode and road conditions to maintain handling balance and grip. With the roof fitted, the car generates more than 600 kg of downforce. The active aerodynamics work in concert with an Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control system that monitors suspension, braking, steering and powertrain across four selectable drive modes.
The car’s body is built from a bespoke carbon fibre tub using proprietary resin-transfer-moulding and F1-derived autoclave technology, developed with input from Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the technical consulting division of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team. A subtle increase in curvature at the top edge of the door glass improves passenger ingress and egress when the roof is mounted.
